As a member of city council, Newman pledges to bring a new vision to city government to deal with the many issues facing the city with a particular emphasis on battling the increasing crime problems. He will encourage a new commitment of service by city government for the betterment of all the citizens of the city.

Murder and crime have a huge effect on our lives. When reports of murders and other crimes in Myrtle Beach hit the national news, it negatively impacts our tourism economy. Everyone living within the city limits of Myrtle Beach depends on the revenue tourism brings to the city, the businesses and the residents. Newman's vision for the city is to build a larger, more effective police force. By adding at least 100 new officers and leading an effort to keep the officers that we have already spent millions of dollars training.

City council needs a leader who knows how to lead by example. A leader who knows how to build bridges and mend fences. A leader with NEW long term vision. For far too long there has been an adversarial relationship between the city and the county. Newman will bring a new commitment to working with other local governments in Horry County for the betterment of all. He believes city council and county council should meet outside of a courtroom for a change to establish common goals to help both improve the lives of their citizens.
